imported_reinierv Posted June 8, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I did a small test with two SDHC cards in a M8 with latest FW, shooting in continuous mode I used a budget sandisk (blue) 8MB and an ultra II 8MB first DNG+jpg basic blue: 10 images, 1m30s write time U II: 10 images, 1m15s write time 2nd just DNG blue: 11 images, 35s write time U II: 11 images, 27s write time anybody did the same with an extreme III card? I would expect it to go to about 20sec BTW: D200, high speed continuous mode, ultra II, 4G CF, AF on, RAW+jpg basic 18 images 55sec, RAW only 22images 56s This means that mainly you can conclude that the jpg processing in the M8 is horribly slow and that the shutter is not as fast as the D200s. But also that the write speed is normal
Advertisement Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Hi imported_reinierv, Take a look here write speeds M8 on 8MB SDHC. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted June 8, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 8, 2009 Yes, that is correct. The Jpg processing is slowed down by the limited processing capability of the M8. After all, it has been built from discrete parts. Cameras using a dedicated chip can be much faster. New Leica models will be using the Maestro chip, which will speed up processing considerably.
