Andrew V Posted June 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey guys I just got a 40mm 'cron. I love it but have a few questions. First, if my hood is flexible but a little stiff on one side how can i rehydrate it and "bring it back to life"? Also I've found a filter for it on sale at a local retailer listed on their site as SERIES 5.5 UV 010 (B+W) FILTER is this what I need? Also how does this filter work if the threads are used for the hood? Also if you have some pix from this lens I'd love to see them. Thanks guys. Advertisement Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Hi Andrew V, Take a look here Leica 40mm 'cron. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
graeme_hutton Posted June 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2009 Hi Andrew I use mine almost exclusively on my M8 so a quick search will throw up lots of pics. The 5.5 thread is correct and I think the hood will screw into the front of the filter. IMHO it is a superb lens. Graeme
luigi bertolotti Posted June 5, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 5, 2009 The 5,5 filters for the CL lenses are unthreaded: their diameter is less than lens mount inner diameter, and they are kept in position by the hood, when it's screwed onto the lens mount. The rubber of the hoods is rather prone to wear, showing decolorization and loss of elasticity... I think there isn't much to do... even if can be that some treatment can be of help (I'm thinking of some "lubricants" used for maintenance of hydraulics rubber parts, available in do-it-yourself shops).
