carcam Posted June 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just started using Apple Aperature and assumed it didn't support the Leica DNG files because when I import the files with the DNG and jpegs, it only shows the jpegs. It is the latest version. Then I'm reading other posts here where people talk of adjusting the dng files in Aperature...? How do I do it? Thanks for any help. Your Master is non-destructive. Import your card into Aperture. When the thumbs appear, select one you know is RAW and hit "F" to bring it up full screen. Now hit "H" to bring up the adjustment pallet. You will see the RAW adjustment sliders are "active" when it's a RAW file. If it's not a RAW file, those sliders will not be available. What you are viewing is a default conversion JPEG. Make your adjustments and Aperture will create a "version" of your finished image. You may then export that "version" as the size and type of file you want. JT
andybarton Posted June 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 2, 2009 Aperture does work with M8 DNGs Try shooting DNG only and see what happens
Eoin Posted June 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 2, 2009 Aperture is a little confusing when using a raw & jpeg workflow. If you are for example shooting DNG and Jpegs, when you go to import the files into Aperture you should only ever see the DNG files in the import panel even though the Jpegs are on the card. When the files are imported Aperture, you'll only see the Master DNG in your project but infact the Master Jpeg is there also, but hidden. If you would like to work with the Master Jpeg, highlight the image and choose Images > New Version from Master Jpeg. This will create a new version based on the Camera shot Jpeg and not from the Camera shot DNG. If this option is unavailable there was no Master Jpeg available on import, ie you only shot DNG.
