Darkstar, have you had an opportunity to check out aspherix's reference to Chernobyl yet?

Remember Three Mile Island? Thin line and all that.

Cheers, Ken.

See above.

Cheers, Allan.

I'm awestruck with how ugly that looks

LouisB

Leica has elevated ugly to the stratum of high art.

Chrome + Black leather is definitely an acquired taste, IMO.

Oh, I don't know, Ned. Chrome and black leather sounds pretty easy to love.

Now, HERE'S an aquired taste...my M3 just reskinned tonight. I call it the "Hollywood M". :D

Mark, great to see you!

I like blue more then black with Chrome. There's just too much contrast between Black and chrome to look natural.

I think that a white leatherette or Gray griptac with Chrome is best looking.

retorical question: do you guys not think a white digital Leica goes completely against the whole Leica ethos; it draws attention to itself and is a transitory fashionable thing.

For decades Leica has prided itself on being a users' tool, a descrete & sensible thing that develops a nicely worn look with age. What's the deal with this mess - it'll look like a worn & dirty white apple keyboard soon enough - and just as disposable.

Sell out.

@ Darkstar 2004

Your remark about Chernobyl mothers is highly discriminating and not funny at all. You are making jokes on children and their parents who in fact experience a nightmare, living a terrible fate.

If you don´t know what you´re joking about, then hopefully this might make you think:

Chernobyl | Magnum In Motion

Oh boy PC police. Heads down avoid eye contact.

Leica never intended to make a super duper stealth camera for the mainstream photographer. They simply created the 35mm format and that alone was enough to be stealthy compared to all the huge formats in vogue then. That is all.

Leica *maybe* started proclaiming to be a discrete tool once the SLRs with their mirrors appeared on the market, much bigger then rangefinders, therefore much more intrusive and louder.

As you now know, Leica never changed. From white to Chrome, the glare factor is and always was there. What you are talking about is the Stealth à-tout-prix myth that the users created.

Let's get real here.

Funny, my thought exactly. Whatever you do, do not pick this up after reading a newspaper!

Lets face it, it's an old man's company (an older rich German man's at that) and their attempts at "hip" have always been laughable. They shouldn't even try. I long for the old days of ads featuring Salgado's hands.

As fas ar I'm concerned, Chrome and leatherette cannot stain.

Black Chrome picks up more dirt and fingerprints then Silver Chrome and white chrome or white paint. Same for a white car: Always looks cleaner then a black car. Always, under any condition.

All I see here is people bashing for the sport of it. Probably people who buy used, therefore the ones Leica doesn't care about, anyway.
