whorg Posted November 6, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Having read the previous posts concerning the scarce availability of the older/specific Heliopan 69mm ES variety . . . is there another 69mm circular polarizer that would work, and most importantly, not touch the front lens element ??? Thanking you all in advance. ~josef
Advertisement Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Hi whorg, Take a look here What Available Polarizer for the D2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cbretteville Posted November 6, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 6, 2006 My slim Heliopan does not touch the front element. I got it in the summer of 2004. If you can't find one (both Sammy's and Adorama have the Heliopan filer listed on their sites) your best bet is to go up or down. A 69-77mm stepup is available from Lensmate here LensMateOnline - LeicaD2/Panasonic LC1 Order Page Downside being you can't use the hood, it looks ugly (tried it) and 77mm MC polas aren't cheap. In a thread in the old forum Jan Dvorak posted using a 69-67mm stepdown from a company called "Go4dc". See this thread: http://www.leica-camera-user.com/discus_e/messages/3/130470.html?1118447970 It looks like it is still available, worth an email at least and at $20 how wrong can you go. Their site is here: http://www.go4dc.com from the top menu select "Filter adapter rings" and scroll down a bit. With this ring the hood fits. Best of luck, - Carl
