Insurance for cameras

We have just renewed our house and contents insurance and got a very good deal with More Than.

 

What very much appealed to me was the out of the house cover which is £1500.00 per item. When I queried them about camera cover I was told that individual items would be covered i.e. if I had a claim for say a camera with a lens attached I would be covered for £3000.00 meaning that they accept lenses and bodies as individual items. Maybe other insurance companies do this, I don't know but certainly this company do

Be warned: I note that on another thread it appears that that company's practice seems to be to draw new customers in with low offers and then radically hike the premium in the following year in the hope that customers are too lazy to look elsewhere. I've had no dealings with them so I can't offer personal experience.

Pete, I think that is common practice with all insurance companies. We were with RBS last year and the renewal premium was nearly double what we had paid and we hadn't had a claim. It would seem loyalty means nothing to insurance companies these day and common practice is to move yearly.

 

My late parents were with the Prudential all thier married life and the man from the Pru used to call once a month to collect the payment
