thompsonkirk Posted May 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here's a bit of a car quiz: What are these people doing? These shots were taken at the 'base camp' of a Ford-Mercury advertising shoot in San Francisco. We came upon humungous amounts of film equipment: I've watched the shooting of a feature film, & it was a more modest production than this. The piece de resistance was a Porsche SUV, painted matte black to avoid reflections, with a remote-controlled boom holding an Arriflex for shooting on the road. But what in the world is the shot going to be? It looks like an effort to illuminate the interior - & simultaneously keep the driver from seeing out. We were told that 'somebody famous' was going to drive the car, but I can't recognize the driver in the 3d shot, where the car was pulling out with an escort (a half-dozen SF motorcycle police). Kirk (PS, "There's a Ford in your Future" was an advertising slogan so long ago that you might not have seen or heard it.)
Advertisement Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Hi thompsonkirk, Take a look here There's a Ford in your future?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
arthurpreston Posted May 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 26, 2009 I'm not an expert, but my guess is it's a chase car for an action scene, which will ride alongside, chasing the car where all the action is taking place. I'm sure someone konwledgeable about this equipment will come along and explain in detail. Good shots on your part!
stuny Posted May 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 26, 2009 Kirk - Terrific series. If the driver is a "famous" one perhaps John will tell us who he is.
