Gang,

A group will be getting together on June 13th to see Robert Frank's "The Americans" exhibition at the SFMOMA (San Francisco Museumof Modern Art). We will be viewing the exhibition and then heading out for some street shooting, followed by some "beer and gear" fun.

Please feel free to join us if you are free.

When: June 13th at 1PM

Where: SFMOMA... meet by the front door.

See you there!

Great idea, Kent. The show was a revelation to me & I'd be happy to see it again.

Although it's the book that's the famous 'art object,' the prints are wonderful. You can see all sorts of details that don't show up in the BW reproduction (Aperture edition, anyhow).

For example, the soldier walking with a woman isn't smoking a fat hand-rolled cigarette, it's a pipe. And the middle figure in the shot of the 3 kids in a drive-in movie seems to have been a boy, not a girl (the long hair is just a shadow).

Not that such details are so important to dwell upon - I just mean to say the prints are quite revealing. And you can see his contact sheets & work prints too.
