Neil Purling Posted May 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Was APX400 naturally softer than competing Ilford HP5 and Tri-X? I have not examined any reviews which compared the films in a test, so you can see any performance differences. I am unsure if the film I have is spoiled. Would Agfa APX 400 be of softer contrast than a competing product like Ilford HP5 or perhaps Tri X. I have used D76 so far for 11 min @ 20C. I normally use Rodinal, but I was unsure if this would exaggerate any fog which may be present. I think the true speed may only be around 300 ASA, which may be a false conclusion if the film is no good now. This was found in a loader which I thought I had lost. I last used some four years ago. Advertisement Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Hi Neil Purling, Take a look here Agfapan 400S. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
kenneth Posted May 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2009 I would say it was as HP5 and Tri-X are more modern emulsions to my reckoning. But you would most likely get chapter and verse here Film and Darkroom User - Powered by vBulletin
