nugat Posted May 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I found a nice titanium M6 at eBay. When tried to check the # it does not pop up anywhere. The Cameraquest listing admits that some m6 titaniums were inserted into regular lines. As it happens the number falls into their "chrome" line. Is it possible? How to check if it's not a fake? The number is #1906933 and then also another: "(10412)". What does the bracketed number mean? Thanks in advance for any help.

andybarton Posted May 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2009 If you're not 100% sure about something, walk away. Very poor quality photo of "a camera" - if I were to look for a Titanium, I'd want to see it before I bought it.

holgerf Posted May 24, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 24, 2009 What does the bracketed number mean? It’s just the item number.
sabears Posted May 24, 2009 Share #5 Posted May 24, 2009 The camera is the real one. To fake such a camera is a nonsense as his value is almost the same of the chrome one. And ,Yes,serial number are in the chrome range. Cheers
luigi bertolotti Posted May 24, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 24, 2009 Yes, 10412 was the product code of the M6 Titanium: I have a Leica brochure of 1992: the M6 titanium is illustrated as a standard listed model together with the silver chrome (10414) and black chrome (10404) versions, and in the lens section the titanium Summilux 35 is also quoted (11860). So, not being a "special series" the s/n are probably inside the "normal" ranges of the era. A finishing that can be appreciated, and the price is decent: titanium M6s are valued just a little bit more than balck/silvers, for their number is anyway low in comparision. Personally, I don't like it so much... but anyway much better of the many "special series" which some dealer still tries to sell at inflated-nonsense prices.
