He is usually sitting in the same spot and i have given him food, blankets and talked with him on occasion. I snapped some shots of him today as we talked, and he even told me how he used to be a photojournalist for his school newspaper years ago. Meet Gary... fotografr Posted November 7, 2006 Share #5 Posted November 7, 2006 In the first image he looks like he still has his dignity, but as I scroll through the others it appears to me he has lost even that. I find these sad and rather pathetic, which is why the series works. It communicates quite well something most of us turn away from. His rotted teeth, by the way, are a hallmark sign of methamphetamine abuse. Our downtown area has become a haven for the homeless because there are several shelters and free food kitchens. Walking through the area, one is constantly bombarded by panhandlers to the point where the tendency is to just completely ignore them. I wonder how people get to a place like this with their lives.
