Dear friends, anyone have figures about this lens?

I see this one going for more I was think about see n. 170330389080.

I know leica productions started again at the end of war from serial 595.000 (400 Summarex) in 1945.

This 90 Elmar has to be one in the first post war lot n.

Matte black due to lack of paint,I don't know how many were done...perhaps Luigi knows :)

Cheers

Looking at the ebay pics seems to me is a standard-looking Elmar 90 black with the usual chrome details (my 1936 item is apparently identical); but it looks in very good conditions and with a bakelite case that I think is not so common in that color (I have seen many for sale in the years, all black as mine). Add that "wartime and near" lenses are anyway a bit uncommon, and this can justify the price. BTW, it could have been restored (finely - nothing bad imho) ... the white paint in the fron ring looks "like new".

Thank you Luigi.

I've done a little search (J.Lager book),I've find that this s not a black paint as the one I have ( I too have a black paint in the 22...range),these were a sort of black anodized,so the look is a lot different (perhaps to see better it would be better to have both in our hands :D) .

I've find another,in not so fine condition, see n. 380119217943 ,very near range serial.

Luigi,we have find another 90 elmar finish variation?

Hmmm.. really, looking better at the ebay pics, the finishing seems different from the standard old blacks... but I tend to think is anyway a paint, not an anodizing process... I think that during the difficult years of 45-48 ca. some kind of black paint could anyway be found... probably different from the standard paint used in the '30s... You made me desire a lot to have one of these items in my hands... :). I checked also Van Hasbroeck, and he too says that "next to war" items had something different in the finishing. Personally, of the Elmars 90 I have, my preferred is an "All chrome" from '48, 675.xxx (as for use, of course, none beats the 3 elements ;) ...)
