Thanks Thorsten, but I cannot claim to be the author - It was printed on a tin of biscuits my wife and I got forty years ago - from my mother in law!!!

I believe that the original author of this quote was Matthew Prior. (1644-1721)

"Be to her virtues very kind; Be to her faults a little blind; Let all her ways be unconfined; And clap your padlock on her mind." :)

Thorsten: Leica NJ said they "made very fine adjustments to how the mirror and the focusing screen sit in the camera" and that "the focus will also be accurate with film". Sounds to me like the they simply needed to tighten the tolerance for digital use rather than to create an offset, if you know what I mean.

Somehow my attached photos look very washed out despite I converted them from Adobe RGB to sRGB before posting. What's going on?

when I want to post something online I do the following: resize for the use, sharpen for that size, convert to srgb, then adjust levels..I darken the input levels for shadows 5-10 pts. and the midtones 5-10 pts., then create a "save for the web" jpg ( doing this flattens out the image and makes the levels change a must do to preserve the richness of the image)

I too have the first version of the brightscreen mag... have just lost my 3rd eyecup..

I am tempted to try the newer version.. I am going to hotglue the eye cup on.

did they do this on the spot..or did you leave the camera with them?

I just rec'd a lens back from being rommed and repaired, it took 7 weeks. door to door.

I am about an hour from them so if they can check focus on the spot it may be worth a drive.. I am always surprised with those shots I miss focus and by how much!..and they are increasing..

In my case they did it on spot -- took about 45 minutes -- though I'm not sure if I was just lucky or they do this regularly. I'd email their service department ahead of time to describe the problem and arrange a time.

I can't remember what the biscuits tasted like, but I don't think they were that old!!!

Thanks Nicole

Best wishes,
