intersted for a few reasons

i have the need to fill the long range gap, being equiped with an LC-1 and its 28-90mm zoom

but im in no hurry to do this

and i would like Leicas fortunes to change for the better

on looking at the second stationroof frame, sadly i can see the noise and washout issue is present just like the fz50

Riley,

Where on the second station roof are you referring to? I could see a little wash out on the roof where the sun is hitting the shingles. Is that the same amount of washout as the FZ50 or a little better. I know it's not perfect but it seems a little less than on the FZ50. Am I still dreaming?

Riley,

Your images are a testament to what a fine camera the V-Lux is. I HAD the Panasonic Lumix FZ-50 BRIEFLY. Like for a weekend. And returned it. Not because of any failings of the images it produced. But due to the pesky EVF which I had come to abhor in my Digilux 2. And I was oh so hoping the EVF (which I was aware of) would have been improved from earlier models (like the Digilux 2) as Sony has done in their EVF loaded models which, for some reason, have more of a 'ground glass' quality which you see while peering into the finder. Ultimately, I ended up with an LX-1. And am now selling my house to procure an M8 plus three lenses!

Good luck and enjoy your camera.

really impossible to say less or not isnt it, but the loss of detail is in my view unnaceptable

these 3 crops come from that image, where you would expect to find noise in the shaddow of the roof eave has completly been washed of detail (the planking). by the window you can see its better but still affected. the same loss occurs where the blue painted wall is in shaddow, detail is gone

Hi Riley,

I just received confirmation of next day air shipment from Willoughbys just a few minutes ago. As far as I know I'm keeping mine because, even thought there is a lose of detail in those photos the V-LUX 1 does not show the smearing of those details that the FZ50 did. Check my post " V-LUX 1 Unoffical Test Results" over at dpr. Most of the time I like for a photo to show me what I am looking at when I take it and I don't think I could make out details in these photos if I were standing there looking at the house taking the photo. I could be wrong but I think I'll be very happy with the V-LUX.

Is V Lux-1 really different than L1? Or, is it supposed to be?

Kamil--

According to Leica as quoted in LFI, all the current Leica digicams use different firmware than their Panasonic siblings.

Howard,

I am sorry. I am mistaken. V Lux is actually FZ 50 but I thank you for your answer stating that even though rebranded, the Leica versions have different image definitions.
