JHAG Posted May 5, 2009 Share #21 Posted May 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's much more the sort of hood I'd expect to use on the Noctilux. Does it block the rangefinder patch? Not really. About 1/6-th of it. Think of a 75. I don't care : no flare, no shock. I love it.

Guest darkstar2004 Posted May 6, 2009 Share #22 Posted May 6, 2009 There you are, David's reply : "Johan, Good to hear from you. We moved to near Seattle, WA this last year. I had the hood removed on the Noctilux by the local camera shop, and it is very easy. It would not be difficult to do yourself, but you would not want to risk damage to the lens. The hood is made up of 2 parts. Both were purchased at B&H Photo in NY. Part #1 is B+W 60ea-62ei Step-Up ring #3E (BWSUR6062)$24.95USD at the time. Part #2 is a B+W 62mm Aluminum lens hood #950 (BWLHM62)$33.95USD at the time. Both items should be still available at B&H, and also at the better European camera stores, or direct from B+W (Schneider Kreuznach). Best Regards, David Reynolds" Thank you for the info.; I thought it was the 62mm lens hood with the 60-62mm step up ring. I couldn't imagine B+W custom building a 950 hood in 60mm... gwelland Posted May 7, 2009 Share #23 Posted May 7, 2009 For a bunch of the mid range 35/50 lenses Leica produced the 12585 vented hood. This same clip on hood fits multiple lenses.
joechan Posted May 7, 2009 Share #24 Posted May 7, 2009 I wonder how easy it is to remove the Noctilux hood. This is something I would consider doing. peter_n Posted May 7, 2009 Share #25 Posted May 7, 2009 Mine has a customized hood by B&W which is not blocking anything.I have the same hood in 58mm screwed directly into my E58 Noctilux. One of the reasons I bought the E58 was the availability of filters for it. Welcome, dear visitor!
