richam Posted May 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2009 Memories, indeed. Saw the 1961 F1 French Grand Prix there. Was located at the turn 7 hairpin, where Stirling Moss put a move on favorite Phil Hill causing the latter to spin and stall. Somehow he got his Ferrari going again by pushing it slowly, then jumping in -- about 3-4 times before it started. Quite a bit of drama, although Hill finished some 2 laps down, leaving Baghetti to win in another Ferrari. Thanks for posting.
MPerson Posted May 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 2, 2009 That is a sad sight. My father took me there several times in the late fifties/early sixties to watch races. To this day I can recall the sounds and smells. Thanks for posting.

Doc Henry Posted May 3, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted May 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) A real reminiscence for me. I was taken round the cicuit in 1955 by a friend's father in his new Peugeot 403. As you know most of it as you know is public highway. Thanks for looking Flatfour and comment. Some sponsors would like to remake the circuit but would be needed a gesture of a politician to relaunch the construction of a circuit. But it seems difficult to start ! As promised I returned this morning May 3rd to the circuit, a little cloudy to day. Here is some more images for you : there were Belgian friends of Antwerp who come to make the race with their Porsche, to the memory of the pilots according to our Belgian friends Thanks for looking M8 lux 35mm and 50mm
