johnbuckley Posted November 2, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 2, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ok, our friends in France, UK, Germany, and the Netherlands have M8s in their hot little hands. Waiting for my dealer to tell me the UPS truck has arrived with mine on it. Many in the States have been told theirs are arriving tomorrow, Friday. Um, has anyone in the U.S. received one today? It's 1:10 EST. JB
Advertisement Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Hi johnbuckley, Take a look here Any US Arrivals Today. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted November 2, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 2, 2006 Hope you guys get yours for the weekend! I think they've done well to get them out a month earlier than the "end of November" we might have expected. No shortage of demand. I sent a mail to my dealer to thank them for getting my camera out and they told me that with 3 cameras delivered so far, they still have 40 on the waiting list... johnbuckley Posted November 2, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted November 2, 2006 Mark - pretty clear there will be US dealer deliveries tomorrow... but my dealer told me yesterday he'd have mine today, so I'm obviously pretty excited!
edlaurpic Posted November 2, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 2, 2006 The Leica agency in the Netherlands had not received their allocation for their ten dealers as of yesterday. Do you have info that any of the stores in Holland have actually received cameras from their distributor (transamerica)?
johnbuckley Posted November 2, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted November 2, 2006 Ed - see here: http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/8468-its-arrived.html. From what I can tell, there are M8s right now being held up to a lucky photographer's eye, and the viewfinder shows an image of a canal...
johnbuckley Posted November 2, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted November 2, 2006 You have to go down to Martin's post, about two-thirds of the way down the page...
pemayeux Posted November 3, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 3, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) My dealer notified me yesterday that I could get my M8 tomorrow. Only one problem, it is silver and I want black. So I get to wait another ten days.
johnbuckley Posted November 3, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted November 3, 2006 Yes, having gotten my hopes up on Wednesday, saying he believed mine would arrive Thursday (yesterday), when I hadn't heard anything, I called him late in the day. He told me that he now believed he wouldn't get mine in the shop until Monday. So, have to wait the weekend. My wife helpfully said I could use my M7 and film this weekend, if I wanted to take photos so damn much. But that's what I did last weekend, to get me through until the M8 was to arrive! Everyone complains when they deliver late. We should stop to appreciate the converse. Cheers, Sean
mwilliamsphotography Posted November 3, 2006 Share #13 Posted November 3, 2006 Crap, I just realized I don't have a wedding this Saturday afternoon, so I can't put it through the real acid test. Will have to wait until Dec.2nd to shoot a wedding with it along with the M7 and B&W film. So it's off to the mean streets with it tomorrow afternoon. Jeeze, I haven't been this geeked about a stupid camera in a long time : -)
kidigital Posted November 3, 2006 Share #14 Posted November 3, 2006 Oh to be so close after a long wait. I had the perfect venue/event picked out for a few shots this weekend. Looks like the UPS truck will be dropping mine off on Tuesday instead...sigh. I guess it's one last weekend fling with the RD-1.

Jamie Roberts Posted November 3, 2006 Share #16 Posted November 3, 2006 Sheesh, Guy, and I thought you were quiet on the forum because you'd somehow got yours already! Ah well. None except MR's in Toronto yet. Or New York. I call all the time; they're probably moving me *down* the list.
kidigital Posted November 3, 2006 Share #17 Posted November 3, 2006 Guy, with the amount of Leica lenses we've bought and sold over the past several years we could start our own Leica dealership. LOL
handcoater Posted November 3, 2006 Share #18 Posted November 3, 2006 I just talked to my dealer and mine came in today in NYC. He is shipping it overnight Saturday delivery and I should have it tomorrow. After all the anticipation and the hoopla I don't think I will really believe it until I have it in my hands.
