Question re aperture ring on new 24mm asph

I just bought one of these, and the aperture ring was so easy to turn I could do it with a fingertip...the clicks were noticeable, but didn't slow the rotation. It could easily be turned by accident, I'd say. I returned it and asked for another one in exchange....

 

Is this normal for this lens? My other lenses are much more definite and require intentional pressure........

 

Of course the New England Leica distributor is now out of stock on the 24....

Mine is normal, i.e. not easier to turn nor stiffer than my other Leica lenses (i.e. 28, 35, 50, 75 and 90)

Loose aperture ring in any Leica lens is not normal. However, I have seen few recent Leica lenses with loose aperture ring. Lack of QC perhaps?

When I still had the current, pre-asph 50mm f1.4 lens, the click stops were actually loud. It drove me nuts. They worked, of course, but you talk about noisy! We should have silent, effective detents.

My 24mm is slightly stiffer to turn than I expected and I suspect it will get easier as it's used.

 

A loose one doesn't seem standard. They will adjust it if necessary.

thanks to all of you....it was the first *new* lens I had ever bought, and I didn't know if they had changed their idea of what it should feel like,,,,,I gave it back, the dealer is getting me a new one.
