D Lux 4 and Lensmate + polarizer + 81a warmer?

Bought the Lensmate extension for my DL4 (fits nicely) and a fiulter, the latter a 46 mm circular polarizer that also includes "warm 81a" treatment.

Has anyone used this filter before? (Called "Moose's filter" after the guy who apparently devised it.) What's been your experience with images with this type filter? Happy with results? I have not had time yet to go shooting with it, but would appreciate any comments from those who have used it.

Thanks.

I haven't used a combined polariser and 81a on the D-Lux 4 but have often used this combination (separately) in medium format landscape photography.

First things first: if you leave your D-Lux 4 on auto white balance it will try to balance the orange 81a by adding blue, which is likely to affect other elements in the scene. Use the colour balance pre-sets for sunny, cloudy etc.

The 81a is the mildest warming filter; I normally used an 81c, which balanced the inherent blueness of natural light to my taste, but I know many photogs who swear by the 81a. YMMV. Of course with PS it's a couple of seconds work to add whichever 81 series or other colour filter you want as an adjustment layer anyway so it's not really necessary to increase the opportunity for flare by adding a filter in front of your lens.

The area that the Moose (Peterson) filter may give you a problem is in snow scenes, where it'll produce snow with a slight orange cast.

Pete.

I'm also interested in the lensmate + filters combo on the DL4. Could you post some usage experiences & maybe sample photos when you've tried it?

I'm particularry interested in how you find adjusting the cir-pol with the lcd finder?
