Catherine Chryss Posted April 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an MP that I love and I bought a Diana lomo camera just for the 120 format fun! I think the lomo camera teaches me the lomo way for my Leica! What do you think about it? Is it terrible to use my Leica as a fast-shooting lo-fi lomo camera? Don't treat me badly, especially you, MP funs... I LOVE MY MP! I just want to experiment a little...

MattLain Posted April 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 16, 2009 you can do what you want with any camera. will you be using an MP to best of its abilities? ... no, lomo cameras exist to be lomo cameras.
woody Posted April 16, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 16, 2009 How would you use the MP as a lo-fi camera? I have a IIIf with a cv21 and it is a pretty quick shooter. I'm not sure it would be lo-fi though.
JBA Posted April 17, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 17, 2009 Find damaged lenses you can buy cheaply and see what you get.
chris_livsey Posted April 17, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 17, 2009 I think the OP is referring to the style of shooting which is very free and spontaneous rather than the grungy look the lomo cameras produce. Leica in hand we can be too precious about perfect focus and framing before shooting using a hyperfocal position and just being free can be quite liberating. Arguably a Leica M is more suited to this style of working than a 120 film camera.

I often use a 28 or 35 set to the Hyperfocal distance for street work, this makes for a spontaneous shooting style , great in cities like NYC.
