Mrblanchard Posted April 8, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I love how Dynamic B/W mode from my D-Lux 4 reminds me so much of Tri X or Tmax film I used to shoot. If anything, Leica has carved out a nice little niche for itself. I don't need to shoot RAW anymore and convert to B/W. The Jpeg images are amazing when Dynamic B/W mode is used with +1/3 exp compensation before the shot. This thing alone has motivated me more and more to go out and shoot. I've pretty much put my canon 40d away and use my D-Lux 4 a majority of the time.

Mrblanchard Posted April 8, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted April 8, 2009 i feel the same way.. going to try the 1/3 exposure comp. I think the Dynamic B/W are a bit underexposed as is without any compensation. When i do the 1/3rd, it comes out nice for me. It may be my taste and others may not agree. I always had to post process my dynamic B/W pics by increasing the levels in Photoshop, but in effect I'm doing exactly what you're doing with exposure compensation. tollie Posted April 9, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 9, 2009 Would one of the users of Dynamic B/W be so kind as to post an image... especially with the +1/3 EC. Many thanks.
radfilm Posted May 28, 2011 Share #7 Posted May 28, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I too just discovered the Dynamic B&W mode on the D-Lux 4. I loved every photo I shot with it. Really did not need the Raw files as they did not process as nice. Their really is a Tri X feel to it. Cant wait to shoot more.. Wish my M8 had the same mode.
