Lumistu Posted April 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Can anyone explain what the advantage of Center-weighted metering over Matrix metering would be? On what type of situation would you prefer Center-weighted? Also, I am trying to determine what the fastest focusing mode would be: Spot focusing or the the [-]H setting? Does either one of the Pre focus (QAF or CAF) help? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Tony

Tony Hi, Tony, The benefit centre-weighted metering is when you have the proverbial black cat in the snow where the subject is significantly lighter or darker than the background. If you used matrix metering the meter would read exposure over the whole scene, render it as 18% grey and underexpose the cat. Pete.
