Secret Bunker Broadcast Room

This is the relatively untouched broadcast room in Scotland's Secret Bunker. It occupies three large floors underground in the coutryside near St. Andrews and was for use by ministers in the event of a war catastrophe - latterly the nuclear threat.

My father guarded it during the post war period when national service was still compulsory.

Great shot - really communicates the surreal and frightening atmosphere.

There is a similar bunker near us in London, at Kelveden Hatch and it is well worth visiting, if only to remind us of the futility of nuclear weapons.
