DriesI Posted April 8, 2009 Share #21 Posted April 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) In a small store in a Belgian suburb: - slide developing (no mounting): 3.38 EUR - Fuji astia: 9.29 EUR/roll - Fuji velvia: 8.63 EUR/roll Indeed cheaper than the astia. Very strange. Thats why I buy film online. At freestyle a roll of Velvia costs just under 7 USD in a 20 roll pack. Thats less than 5 EUR. Add 30% for tax and shipping and you are at 6.50 EUR per roll. Astia is almost a dollar cheaper, so I can get it for under 6 EUR per roll tax and shipping included) Black and white film: no, except for 5 rolls of CN400 that the current owner inherited when he bought the store two years ago. Advertisement Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Hi DriesI, Take a look here International film cost comparison. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
leicapages Posted April 10, 2009 Share #22 Posted April 10, 2009 in Europe Germany is usually cheaper than many other countries. Try sources such as TECHNIKdirekt.de - Landingpage or other major sellers.
NZDavid Posted April 10, 2009 Author Share #23 Posted April 10, 2009 Thanks Pascal, but unfortunately some British and European firms (and this appears to be one of them) do business only in Europe. Useful for EC residents, though.
twittle Posted April 10, 2009 Share #24 Posted April 10, 2009 Oh, and colour negative processing is about US$ 21.50 for a 36. ouch... Good heavens! That's utterly absurd! Even Kodachrome is only $13 including return postage to the US (not sure what Dwayne's charges for international postage). And yes, I do realize standard negative processing would come with prints and Kodachrome wouldn't, but still...
hoppyman Posted April 11, 2009 Share #25 Posted April 11, 2009 Over here on the West Island, Provia was costing me more than five times the US prices when bought at retail in Brisbane a year ago. I concluded that film manufacturers were laughing at me persisting with wanting to use professional standard film. Or at least the Australian importers. I got the M8. 6000+ frames later I still have fifty rolls or so languishing in my freezer now. How much do you pay to buy and develop film? I shoot mostly slide film. I am curious to know if there are wild variations. Here in New Zealand, I think processing is good value, but film costs more to buy. For the sake of simplicity, I have changed $NZ to $US at today's exchange rate. Location: Christchurch, New Zealand. Slide film, various sources: approx. $12 per 36 exp roll (eg, Fuji Astia 100F or Kodak E100G). Processing: My local lab (Kens Digital - Future Fresh Solutions) vows to be "the last man standing" when it comes to processing film. E6 processing, 36 exp, mounted: $11.60. E6 processing, 36 exp, mounted, plus 18MB CD: $30. Scanning, 18MB: 72c per slide.
andybarton Posted April 11, 2009 Share #26 Posted April 11, 2009 Bring them over in June. I'll give you AUS$1 for every roll

When I was in New Zealand about a year ago I had to pay a lot more than $12 a roll for E6 film on the East Coast os Soth Island, it was more than double that and it was short dated too. Doesn't pay to run out of film where there isn't much competition. The scenery was so grand I got carried away.......... Gerry
DriesI Posted April 13, 2009 Share #28 Posted April 13, 2009 Again in that small shop in Belgium: E6 processing, 36 exp, mounted: 5.45 EUR (7.20 USD / 12.29 NZD) E6 processing, 36 exp, mounted, scans on cd: not possible. E6 processing, 36 exp, unmounted, scans on cd: 10 EUR (13.22 USD / 22.65 NZD) E6 processing, 36 exp, mounted, scans on cd: Mounted price + 1 EUR per scanned slide 5.45 EUR + 36 EUR = 41.45 EUR (54.79 USD / 93.50 NZD) Scan is 3000x2000 resolution. NZDavid Posted April 14, 2009 Author Share #29 Posted April 14, 2009 That's not bad in Belgium, but we're still pretty good for processing in NZ by the look of it -- except for buying film. Worth reading through this post for other good places to try. Thanks to all who have contributed so far.
darkness30 Posted April 18, 2009 Share #30 Posted April 18, 2009 None of these good slides and print film exist in sales here. One has to buy it from internet + shipping to Turkey and thats a lot. Slide processing without mount is around $13 and when I ask for mounting they look at me as if I am from outer space. Mehmet
