John Maio Posted October 29, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 29, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I ordered the new 28mm f/2.8 ASPH with 6-Bit coding and expect to receive it in a few days. My understanding is that ANY new Leica lens purchased before December 31st qualifies the owner to receive from Leica, on registering his or her purchase and sending in the warranty card, two vouchers for free coding of existing non-coded lenses. I've noticed that some of you have mentioned already receiving new lenses recently and am curious if anyone has received vouchers and sent in non-coded lenses for "the treatment". My understanding is that Leica will begin the coding next week (November 1st), at least in the USA. Just wondering if the procedure is working. brucek Posted October 29, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 29, 2006 John: I believe that offer is to purchasers of the M8. Bruce
jlm Posted October 29, 2006 Share #3 Posted October 29, 2006 when you purchase a new lens: you send Leica a copy of the receipt with the warranty card and they will send back the voucher
John Maio Posted October 29, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted October 29, 2006 John: I believe that offer is to purchasers of the M8. Bruce Although the coding is obviously for the M8 (which I have on order), the promotional offer says "purchase of any Leica lens" - I just wondered if anyone has received vouchers yet.... scott kirkpatrick Posted October 29, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 29, 2006 Look at the fine print. It says expect 6-8 weeks for the vouchers to arrive, then says that coding of lenses under this plan will start in Nov 2006, which is this week. I think this will take a while to work out. scott
grober Posted October 29, 2006 Share #7 Posted October 29, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica doesn't need to field any extra incentives to sell M8 bodies. Heck, they'll be struggling to fill the M8 demand for the next year. However, they do need help selling their lenses -- for film and/or digital bodies -- given the competitive pressures from CV and Zeiss So it makes sense that the voucher will only come when you buy a new Leica LENS. (Rats! I have all the lenses I need at the moment. What I lack is the M8 that I've already had on order for many months.) -g

I suspect there may be those like me who don't see much to be gained by the coding but much from the vouchers from their new lenses.
jlm Posted October 30, 2006 Share #9 Posted October 30, 2006 I read it more carefully. "purchase any new M lens...and you will receive 2 free vouchers" that's TWO vouchers per lens Leica Camera AG - 6-Bit Coding Promotion
