abrewer Posted October 30, 2006 Author Share #21 Posted October 30, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi John! Yeah, the big guy took the M 8 outside for a few minutes and the poor rep began to get a little panicky when he didn't soon reappear! I did notice he slipped a card out of the camera before he gave it back to Frank, so someone out there has some images to share! BTW, what was your impression of the camera? Thanks. Advertisement Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Hi abrewer, Take a look here Another M 8 Sighting!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
johnbuckley Posted October 30, 2006 Share #22 Posted October 30, 2006 Oh, how true Brent! How true! Unfortunately, this M 8 is the rep's demo camera and is not for sale. They expect inventory to begin coming into the stores early next month. I'm certain Provident won't mind if you pay now and take delivery when the camera arrives. Which leads me to a question that might be even more interesting: if I did bring this camera home today, what would you give me for it? Thanks. Allan So, Allan -- they expect inventory to begin coming in the stores early next month... This is the most gloriously optimistic report we have heard lately. They think early November it will arrive in stores? Oh yippee, if true. Cheers, JB
Ted99 Posted October 30, 2006 Share #23 Posted October 30, 2006 The gentleman in this picture wear glasses, like the most of Leica M users !! It is a problem. SLR cameras have the wievfinder to check the pictures and work well even for us who need glasses.

John Hines Posted October 30, 2006 Share #25 Posted October 30, 2006 Al, When you hold that camera in your hand it feels like your really holding something. It's a beautiful camera. I liked the way the framing changed when you switched the lens mm. One day. John
leicavirgin Posted October 31, 2006 Share #26 Posted October 31, 2006 Jan and I went to the Demo in Cleveland on 10/26....The M8 is a beauty...What a treat it was to handle it!...We both ended up ordering the V-Lux for the 35-420mm range and ease of use for us digital newbies....I like the focusing and zoom on the lens barrel, this looks pretty user friendly.... abrewer Posted October 31, 2006 Author Share #27 Posted October 31, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Susan! Yes, the V-Lux 1 was on the display counter with the other cameras and was getting a fair amount of attention...particularly for the price. Unfortunately, the rep that visited Provident did not have a Digilux 3 to share. Thanks. Allan
leicavirgin Posted October 31, 2006 Share #28 Posted October 31, 2006 Hi Allan, I know Frank is coming back to Cleveland in December, so hopefully he will have a Digilux 3 to show then. What is interesting is the D-Lux 3, now at 10mps, a larger screen and a small amount of internal memory (i think I heard that)...and the price has been dropped about $300.00 from the D-lux 2 of last year. It is so good to see Leica expanding their digital cameras into a competative market while at the same time embellishing their high end line. Looking at Frank's demo counter, there was something for everyone who might be in the market for a good camera.. Regards, Susan
