berthram Posted March 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since a long time, I'm trying to adapt other make lenses on my M2 , I' ve made an adapter for Exakta lenses (an Angénieux 35mm f: 2,5 R1 on the picture) I've also done the system for RF coupling . I will try with other lenses ( as my 100mm f:2 Kinoptik) and will post some news about it. Has anyone done such fool things Welcome, dear visitor! luigi bertolotti Posted March 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 26, 2009 Hi Berthram, and, first of all, COMPLIMENTS : doing by yourself a M adapter is a task of appreciable difficulty, but MAKING A CORRECT RF COUPLING is definitely a task that requires mechanical skills that are uncommon. How did you manage this in the example you posted ? Best whishes for your work on the Kinoptik ! Obtaining a 100mm lens that focus correctly at f2 means to master tolerances that are really tight... brianv Posted March 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 26, 2009 I've transplanted the optics modules of various lenses into LTM mounts, and shimmed then to couple with the RF. I made an M42 mount CZJ Tessar 5cm F2.8 into LTM using an I-61 mount, 50/2 Luxon into LTM using a J-3 mount, even a Helios-103 into LTM using the close-up helical for the Summar. But not an adapter from scratch as you have done. I do plan on adapting a Summicron to Nikon RF mount. LTM Helios-103, RF coupled.
Irishimage Posted March 26, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 26, 2009 As a Project i have adapted the Leitz Focoslide Fuldy to allow any M Bayonet lens to be used for close focus photography. Fuldy close focus device (m39 tread mount) with M Bayonet adapter attached. Coupled with Elmar(M) f.4 135 lens and IIIc Tread Mount. Min focus distance for the Elmar is 1,5m but is now reduced to 783mm (approx) = distance from object at sharp focus to film plane. Photo 1) Elmar and IIIc inline. Photo 2) Focusing position. Photo 3) Test at focus distance of 783mm. f 5.6 1/60s Noel Welcome, dear visitor! berthram Posted March 27, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted March 27, 2009 thanks Luigi, It was quite hard to do, The easiest thing was doing the adapter: I've made (cut) a custom screen with microprisms and x12 magnifier fixed on the back of the M2 to control the correct distance (for infinity only) of the adapter (topcon 58mm f:1,4 fitted on). The RF coupling with the Angénieux was a long story with nervous crises and liters of coffee, I've done a special ring for RF (with many hours of filing and testing to have perfect match between M2's RF / image on the screen) to replace one existing on the Angénieux (to allow return to original condition): I will take some better picture of it this week-end. Some hesitation with the kinoptik ... as I may choose to adapt it to my viso2,due to the difference between 90mm and 100mm field (???) Brianv, Irishimage: great job! berthram Posted March 28, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted March 28, 2009 some pictures of the adapter for Exakta / Topcon... (I was so happy to realize it that I made a poor engraving on it: " Leica / Exakta - RF adapter - Bertrand Costuas France n°0001 ". You may see it on Eboy one day sold at 1$) (third picture: even if the Topcor is not a desirable lens, I really love it and RF coupling will be done for it too. Last serious thing: I'm planning to do a M / m42 adapter with a RF "reading" scale and a fixed focal plane distance: you move a ring which interfer with the RF, it would translate distance in meters that you report on the lens... not as precise as RF coupling but funny hours of work, coffee, nerves...
