andalus Posted March 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just bought a new 24 Elmar 3.4 from Popflash for my MP. Tony says he got it from Europe, but has no US warranty, just "international" whereby I can send it to Solms if any problems, and it'll be fixed there without charge. Anyway, I figure it was priced well at 1900. No tax and no shipping charges, too. So, that 24 plus the 50 Summilux ASPH and the 135 Telyt seems to make for a very good kit, and I'm ready, I suppose, for an M9 should it ever appear. Anyway, anyone using the Elmar 24 on an MP? It is said to be as good as the 2.8 24, just slower.

wizard Posted March 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2009 It is said to be as good as the 2.8 24, just slower. It is said to be even ever so slightly better than the 2.8/24 (not sure if anyone will notice that in real use), so enjoy it! Andy
Rona!d Posted March 24, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 24, 2009 The most visible difference between both is the price.

His "international" stuff is not to be worried about. He's a good guy to buy from.
andalus Posted March 26, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted March 26, 2009 THANKS. I WAS SOMEWHAT LEERY of buying such but the price was certainly right. Hasn't arrived yet but I hope it is as advertised -- new in box, etc.
batmobile Posted March 26, 2009 Share #6 Posted March 26, 2009 your used lens will bear an uncanny resemblence to a brand new one, unsused etc. He has to advertise grey goods as 'used as new' rather than new, but new they are. I have bought two MPs, three ZM lenses and a leica lens from him and all perfect. I had one ZM lens with a blob of dust inside (it was evidently spanking new, but the dust particle was mobile so could have been missed on inspection at the factory) and he swapped it out immediately. I recommend him highly. Really nice guy and great customer service. He deserves to do well.
peter_n Posted March 26, 2009 Share #7 Posted March 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) batmobile said it very well. It will be brand new, and if you have the slightest problem he will take care of you. He once replaced a lens for me so quickly that it arrived before I was able to ship the faulty one back. Terrific customer service.
