Bauds Posted March 21, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been reading the fiorums for a while and have found some really useful and helpful stuff. This is my first post so here goes.... I have been using my Telyt 4.8/280 on the Lumix G1 with a Visoflex II which is of course unecessary from the mirror point of view but needed to get the correct distance from the focal plane. Does anyone know of an adapter/spacer the same length as the Visoflex that I can use to make the whole outfit a bit less unwieldy? I must say that the G1 performance with the Leica lenses is not up to my M8 but it is great as a back-up and also for action shots with the telephoto. doubice Posted March 21, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2009 Welcome to the club! At this time, I don't believe anybody produces a dedicated adapter to attach a Visoflex lens to the Micro 4/3 mount directly. You may have to buy two adapters - for example Visoflex to Nikon F mount and Nikon F to Micro 4/3. Or Visoflex to Leica R and Leica R to Micro 4/3..... These adapters exist and I would suggest a search on the Cameraquest site - Adapters: Micro 4/3 or a thorough search on eBay. Lately, all kinds of adapters are coming out of China and are being sold on eBay. Now - the 280mm Telyt on the G1 will become a 4.8/560mm super telephoto; quite impressive. Holding the combination steady will be a challenge; it would be nice if the G1 had image stabilization built into the body! Best, Jan
Bauds Posted March 21, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted March 21, 2009 Hi Jan, Thanks for this information. I may not have made myself that clear, I actually want to replace the visoflex II unit with an adapter or extension tube. It is not needed for the mirror view and is really bulky. A nice smooth extender would be just perfect. Neil
doubice Posted March 21, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 21, 2009 Hi Neil, Actually, I understood perfectly what you wanted to do. The only way to do it would be via a tube that allows a Visoflex lens to be mounted directly to an M body, while maintaining infinity focus. If an adapter like that was available (it is not….), you would still need to adapt the combination the Micro 4/3 mount. I assume that you have the Leica M to Micro 4/3 mount, as that is how the Visoflex gets attached to your G1. So - the only way (to my knowledge…..) to attach the Telyt to the G1, would be via extra adapters - this is a complicated and relatively costly way but, at this time the only way. wildlightphoto Posted March 21, 2009 Share #5 Posted March 21, 2009 Instead of the Visoflex you could use a viso-to-R adapter and an R-to-camera adapter.
