jwcane.enw Posted March 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My R8 viewfinder exhibits "LO" in bright sunlight and aperture priority with aperture set to f/8. Camera is also displaying in the left side of the viewfinder the exclamation point inside a triangle. Manual indicates that this means "metering range is insufficient". Question: is there a separate battery for the light meter? Any ideas appreciated

Overgaard Posted March 17, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 17, 2009 I had that error just two days ago with my R8/DMR. After I separated all parts of the camera (DMR back, DMR bottom, opened the "film" door and cleaned ALL contacts, the camera acted completely normal again. I had a 2.8 lens attached and the viewfinder said f/8-f/16 and LO. But when motor or DMR is attached that is the battery, as far as I know. The battery would normally be in the handgrip which is replaced by the DMR or motor.

wakewood Posted March 17, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 17, 2009 Do you get different readings when changing the metering mode? I suspect the metering cell(s) gone -> CS. If so, real bad in terms of financial damage
jwcane.enw Posted March 17, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted March 17, 2009 Great news: the "LO" indication only happens in selective metering mode. The other two modes are working fine. Vielen Dank!
