cbretteville Posted October 27, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2006 The first one is my favourite, What did you soup the Tri-X in? - Carl
LADP Posted October 27, 2006 Share #3 Posted October 27, 2006 John, very nice shots. I love the first one... the diagonal vanishing lines are beautifully drawn with that 28. The only minor criticism I have is that I think the power of that shot is a bit diminished by the slightly off level framing. It's just my personal bias for this type of shot, and I am not suggesting that all compositions be perfectly level, but the choice of subject for this shot would benefit from it in my opinion. Over all very nice work though. The second photograph has a nice tonal range too. The wet floor has great specular highlights. Nice scans.
johnkuo Posted October 27, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted October 27, 2006 Thanks for your comment. I had my local lab (A&I) do the processing and I scanned it at home.
johnkuo Posted October 27, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted October 27, 2006 I have corrected the leveling of the first image.
LADP Posted October 27, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 27, 2006 I prefer it corrected to the original. Bear in mind that I'm probably more sensitive to level than many since I am a steadicam operator in addition to traditional camera operator and DP. Again, I am not opposed to dutch angles in various compositions, but that one seemed to ask for it. NIce work.
johnkuo Posted October 27, 2006 Author Share #7 Posted October 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Anthony. It was a great suggestion. I did notice it's off by a little bit, and the corrected version certainly shows the improvement in overall composition.
