Mystic Posted March 14, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) It took a while and some posts but finally i made a decision. It wasnt easy for me and I still love the Leica M system but in the end the R system won. Here are some reasons why: First of all i wanted to buy a Leica M6 but i would have to buy new lenses. The total costs like i calculated were too high. Then i thought about buying a CL - a nice little camera which offers me everything i need, it comes with a good lens, the handling is easy and so on.... but there is one problem: The build quality - I like the materials and the robustness of Leicas and the CL is a camera that hasnt got the glamour and the soul () that arranges a "real" Leica in my opinoin but maybe i'll buy a CL as a small backup camera later on this year. secondary i just sold my R4 body and kept the R Summicron 50mm that was of course another reason for the R system. Well i really thank everyone who supported my thread and gave me some helpful advices. Best regards Daniel my new sweetheart Welcome, dear visitor! Chiefey Posted March 15, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 15, 2009 Good choice, I bought an R8 last year from ebay and love it with the 60mm Macro, and my other leica lenses, too.
Mystic Posted March 15, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted March 15, 2009 It is simply an awesome camera. Well build and the handling is perfect. @ Martin: I always took a look at the Elmarit 19mm, a friend of mine has got that lens and his pictures are superb - but the price isnt bad too . andit Posted March 15, 2009 Share #5 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi Daniel, Congratulations, you have made an excellent choice. Plus, if you want to go digital with your R8, you just need to have a look around for a DMR module. Well done and please post some images for us to admire. .....but like i said, i'm thinking about buying a CL and have some fun with the "M" system . Now I only have to purchase a scanner, then you will definitely admire or criticize () some of my pictures. Daniel
leicapages Posted March 15, 2009 Share #7 Posted March 15, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Excellent choice; the R8 and R9 remain excellent cameras even after their official discontinuation. They are as good as manual SLR cameras are ever going to get. A pleasure to use. Have fun and lots of good light :-)
leicapages Posted March 15, 2009 Share #8 Posted March 15, 2009 By the way: yes the built quality of the CL may feel a little less than a typical M but it really is a great tool. I happen to use the CL a lot and it is a pleasure, which produces excellent results in a compact and light package.
Mystic Posted March 20, 2009 Author Share #9 Posted March 20, 2009 I happen to use the CL a lot and it is a pleasure, which produces excellent results in a compact and light package. Yes, I read the thread about the Summicron C 40mm and it seems to be a little but astonishing lens with a big potential. Thats is, beside the fact that the camera is relatively cheap, another "must have" factor .
