I am thinking of purchasing Adobe Lightroom 1.0 and would like to know if anyone has experience with this and the Digilux 2. Any problems using RAW, ect. Should I look at another program? I am a big fan of less is more.

Works great with Digilux 2 raw´s (and with jpeg´s, of course).

But I advise you to get Lightroom 2 right away; it´s been substantially improved since the 1 version.

Why on earth would you buy LR 1?

Just because it might be a little lower in cost?

If it is not a NEW copy, IE unused by someone else (IE never installed and registered), then I'd forget about it and just buy the current version, 2.x.

If it is new and totally unregistered, and depending on the price, it may be a good deal as you can get the upgrade to version 2 for $99.

The program I am looking at is new old stock and I thought I would try it for less than $100 then upgrade for $99. If for some reason I did not like it I would not be out $230 right from the start. I just wanted to read some feedback from those who own both.

I've had LR since it came out, actually I used the beta for a short time also, and now have version 2.

I don't use it much as "I" never got on with it (it doesn't suit me). But I will continue to upgrade it hoping it will turn into a program I like to use.

Others find it the best thing since sliced digital bread.

RZR--nothing wrong with your logic, but Lightroom 1 is really hobbled compared to Lightroom 2.

I had the feeling working with Lightroom 1 that Adobe rushed it to market primarily to counter Apple's Aperture; not until Lightroom 2 did it become really useful.

So your deal sounds like a good one: You can get Lightroom 2 for less (if you decide to) by buying Lightroom 1 first.

The downside I see is that if you don't like Lightroom 1 and decide not to try Lightroom 2, you won't know whether the parts of the old program that you dislike are the ones that got changed in the new version, or whether they're the ones that Adobe kept.
