ndlux3 Posted March 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just thought I'd introduce myself and say hello to everyone. I bought my first real camera two years ago with absolutely no experience whatsoever - I opted for the Leica D-LUX 3 in black and its been a real gem of a purchase. Not a single problem, no scratches, very reliable, small and have been getting some great shots. I am a complete beginner so am having to refer to the manual regularly still but its all good fun. I've seen a few of the youtube videos on Leica, I just wondered if anyone has made an instructional DVD for the D-LUX 3? I learn far better from watching really, lots of my friends have SLRs and try to explain howtoo complex for me to use all the many features but its all a bit too complex for me:)

Holmz Posted March 7, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 7, 2009 ... I've seen a few of the youtube videos on Leica, I just wondered if anyone has made an instructional DVD for the D-LUX 3? Where are you located at? Seems like it would be a good project for you to make the video. Maybe you could get someone to help you with the technical parts? Mystic Posted March 7, 2009 Share #5 Posted March 7, 2009 hi ndlux3, and welcome to the Leica forum. the best thing you can do is learning by doing, you got a wonderful camera, which has got a very good image sensor and a high quality lens. So you can post some of the pictures you took and if you got a problem the members of this forum can help you to increase the quality your images. Best regards Daniel

Don't woory about how good or bad you think your photos are. We're all learning, everyday. Marco Thanks everyone, the Leica Instruction manual is really useful but I much prefer instructionals - videos and so on.I'm learning gradually about shooting in raw, lightroom and photoshop, its a whole new world for me. Have to say, the photography forums are so much more welcoming than the automotive forums, everyone just seems to flame each other on there Am really enjoying my Leica and looking forward to knowing my cameras full capabilities which I am sure will be immense. farnz Posted March 8, 2009 Share #8 Posted March 8, 2009 It's nice to hear that Pixelheads are more welcoming than Petrolheads. Welcome to the forum and please post some photos in the Photo forums! BTW, not all photoforums are quite as well-behaved and welcoming as this one and the M8 forum here gets a little edgy from time to time. . Pete. Ed_K Posted March 8, 2009 Share #9 Posted March 8, 2009 Another welcome to the "family", ndlux3, keep experimenting as there are nothing particularly right or wrong, just the way the photographer wants to present it. We all learn from each other and our past experience, let loose and happy shooting :-)
ndlux3 Posted March 12, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted March 12, 2009 Definitely more welcoming! I am about to attempt to open my first raw image. I shot in raw with the DLUX 3 and I have seen a few videos today of how versatile raw conversions are ( how did I manage without this). When I click my raw image it gives me a choice of what size I want the image to be when I open it - I have seen on youtube people suggest 1024x768- is this the standard size?? Thanks

Thanks Depends on what you want to do with it A file of that size at 300 dpi on your printer will make a delightful 3" (roughly) by 2" print
