Dr Kaufmann did say that he would only fill the post temporarily. A quick Google search reveals a Rudolf Spiller who is 53yrs old and has worked for Carl Zeiss and also in the US (Alabama, for Z/I Imaging, a joint venture between Intergraph and Carl Zeiss) for a while.
