Thanks Peter. So, a new chairman who at least has executive experience within the optical industry. Dr Kaufmann did say that he would only fill the post temporarily.

A quick Google search reveals a Rudolf Spiller who is 53yrs old and has worked for Carl Zeiss and also in the US (Alabama, for Z/I Imaging, a joint venture between Intergraph and Carl Zeiss) for a while.

Is Dr Kaufmann still the majority shareholder? If so, he will still be able to steer the direction of the company, which is good.

I sent off an email to the Leica rep I know and he confirms that Dr. Kaufmann is still the owner.
