Why the bloody hell is it so expensive?

Well, it happened. I dropped my M6 titanium. It dropped to the floor as I switching hands between my DSLR and M6 during a wedding shoot - right in front of the bride! She was crying tears of joy, I was crying tears of another kind. :( The lens hood and the corner of the camera where the film counter is took the brunt of the impact, resulting in a badly bent hood and a dented top corner. My film counter is now not working either. Anyways, I phoned the local Leica supplier to inquire about the cost of a hood for a pre-ASPH titanium 35mm f1.4 and he told me $225! Ayiyiyi... Why is it so much? Are there any alternatives out there?

Thanks in advance!

I feel your pain! But the camera was fine and the hood was $150.

Aftermarket hoods generally screw on to the filter thread but your lens does not have filter threads so you'll need the original 12504 hood. You don't have to buy a new one. There are lots of used ones at the usual places.

I apologize - I did not know the lens is without filter threads.

probably best to buy a step up ring and then a 52mm mm B&W metal lens hood. much cheaper see adapter below:

Cokin
