Riley Posted October 26, 2006 Share #21 Posted October 26, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) i think this is an interesting opportunity to reflect on the D2/LC-1 journey i recall my astonishment and smile when i first saw the focus and aperture rings on the lens barrel photos i remember googling every forum on the planet, eagerly reading and joining some of the speculation i remember 'testing' my thoughts on the weight and size of the camera in my imaginary hands the D3 while on a journey of its own, never created the interest that the D2 debut had. perhaps that says something worth remembering on the road of camera development there are interesting things happening with the pricing of second hand examples on ebay, and it looks like this is set to continue Riley
Advertisement Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Hi Riley, Take a look here PanaD2 sensor funeral?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted October 26, 2006 Share #22 Posted October 26, 2006 Tough to know where the D3 is headed...
lesh Posted October 26, 2006 Share #23 Posted October 26, 2006 Thorsten, great results, thanks for the background and the posting. I'm sure with the bracketing and bursts you get a high ratio of 'keepers'. I'm usually leaning on Lightroom to try to bring single shots to a reasonable state. Need to get one of these 2 gig cards and a big hard drive.
lesh Posted October 26, 2006 Share #24 Posted October 26, 2006 Thorsten - an afterthought - on the light issue, have you considered using an Expodisk on projects like these? (http://www.expoimaging.net/index.php) Never tried one, but they seem to be getting some positive press comment.
spylaw4 Posted October 26, 2006 Share #25 Posted October 26, 2006 .....[snip]...the D3 while on a journey of its own, never created the interest that the D2 debut had. perhaps that says something worth remembering on the road of camera development ...[snip]..Riley Could this possibly be due to the D3 being overshadowed by the launch of the M8? Same with the other models. Had the M8 not been launched at the sme time, who knows what the interest might have been!
Riley Posted October 26, 2006 Share #26 Posted October 26, 2006 i dont think so Brian something about D2 was very different at the time a manual digicam with auto functions and bounce flash it was unique, and was difficult to compare with anything else, it still is but as a dSLR, is it all that different ? and the D3 was anticipated for quite some time after the drawn out appeareance of L1 for me at least, M8 wasnt even on the radar Riley
