atournas Posted February 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Please advise me between Neopan 1600 and T-Max 3200 for night shots with an M6 (and a fast lens). Just a few words would do. Thanks Paul

Riccis Posted February 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 28, 2009 Hi, Please advise me between Neopan 1600 and T-Max 3200 for night shots with an M6 (and a fast lens). Just a few words would do. Thanks Paul I've used both along with a Summilux or faster lens... That's all you need. Cheers,
MattLain Posted February 28, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 28, 2009 depends on what you like about a film, they each have very opposite 'looks'. neopan is quite gritty, dynamic, contrasty, deep black saturation. tmax is quite flat, still grainy (but well reduced), less contrast, more shadow detail. underground Posted February 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted February 28, 2009 I would make my choice based on the lens, and what my shooting goal is. Like matt said, Neopan is a higher contrast film. with a higher contrast lens that may or may not be what you are looking for in your final result. atournas Posted February 28, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted February 28, 2009 Thanks for your comments, they all were very helpful. I intend to use the Nocti f/1 and I think I'll start with the Neopan. Paul
tgray Posted February 28, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 28, 2009 TMAX is the faster film. Push it for more contrast or print it harder during printer. Neopan is contrastier because at 1600 it is over a stop push. I think TMAX 3200 is fantastic.
