russell c. greenberg Posted February 28, 2009 Share #21 Posted February 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Oh I know, that's why I usually use the hood. I shot 1 roll with out the hood but with the filter to see how it performed. One frame got some flare, but nothing worse than what I've gotten with other lenses. I'm too cheap to use a $3k lens without a filter. Hahaha. I'd rather have a ruined frame or two than a damaged front element. Like I said, the hood is large, but it's not *that* large in the big picture. Tgray, What I meant is that you should use the hood and the filter together. I am also too cheap to use these lenses w/o a filter, easier to replace a filter than a front element. We are certainly in agreement. Russell
Advertisement Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Hi russell c. greenberg, Take a look here 28mm f2 Summicron lens hood. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ozkar Posted February 28, 2009 Share #22 Posted February 28, 2009 If you're shooting in bright conditions the hood can make quite a difference. I took the same shots with and without hood on my 28/2.0 with UV/IR mounted and there was a noticeable difference. Images shot without a hood almost always showed reduced contrast. In subdued lighting, however, the difference was minimal.
