LP FOTO will hold heir spring auction in Stockholm March 15. There are some collectible items in the catalog, which is accessible at

http://www.lpfoto.se/swe/auktioner/auktioner_aktuella_sp.asp

---A near-mint black M2 no. 949021 with cartons and all documents, including the original purchaser's receipt;

---A used but decent grey M2 no. 1005765, similar to the as I presume 25 made in 1960 for the Luftwaffe, i.e. with four finder frames, but without any military or other organisational markings;

---A near-mint 1983 Jubilee M4-P no. E-552 with box and documents;

---One 25mm Summaron 2.8 and two 35mm Summicrons, all goggled, and in the somewhat unusual black chrome and lacquer finish;

---One Summilux-M 1.4/75mm in mint condition;

---One nice Summicron 2/9cm first version SOOZI with ecually nice hood and original caps.

I'm mostly interested in how the really collectible items will do under present economic conditions. The Swedish economy is in free fall, just like everybody else's, but the Swedish Crown (the currency, not the monarchy) has also taken a beating recently. I plan to be there, in any case, though I am not a collector---just a sometime user of fine old equipment.

A report has been asked for and shall be filed. I limit myself to M bodies and lenses.

The fabulous black M2 (lot 460) went for SEK 62,000 (I won't translate into euro, for the rate may change as I write ...) Otherwise, prices were mostly some ten percent above the suggested higher price. The black chrome/paint 8 element 35mm Summicron (lot 495) went for SEK 23,000. The mint Summilux-M 1.4/75mm (lot 515) fetched 13,000 only. It had been in the previous auction and clubbed (I don't know the price, I wasn't there) but the bidder did not take it. Maybe he lost his financial pants. The grey M2 was retracted, without explanations.

Oh well---the Leica R4 Gold and snakeskin with wooden case and all plus a gold 50mm Summilux, all in unopened, still shrink-wrapped cartons, went for less than expected, 18,500. I do wonder what the purchaser will do with it. Masturbate in front of it? Opening the cartons first, or ...
