jllbms Posted February 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all - Suggestions for a suitable strap for the DLUX-4? I ordered an Artisan & Artist strap (Artisan&Artist* Straps), but just realize that it's not going to fit with the DLUX lugs. What are you using? thanks, John
Advertisement Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Hi jllbms, Take a look here Strap for DLUX-4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
USA road racer Posted February 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 26, 2009 Which strap did you order? I'm tired of the leatherette neck strap my camera came with. Purchased a neoprene wrist strap just haven't installed it as of yet. I think the neck strap with a Luigi half case would be OK but without the half case, I'll use a quick disconnect wrist strap. jllbms Posted February 26, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted February 26, 2009 Which strap did you order? I'm tired of the leatherette neck strap my camera came with. Purchased a neoprene wrist strap just haven't installed it as of yet. I think the neck strap with a Luigi half case would be OK but without the half case, I'll use a quick disconnect wrist strap. I ordered the ACAM-102 cloth strap. Seems though that the ring would just slide back and forth on what looks like (in the website photos) a lug of maybe 1/2 inch. Also the wide lug won't fit through the leather "lug protector" of the strap. I already have a Luigi strap, but it's really large compared to the small camera. samuelphoto Posted February 27, 2009 Share #8 Posted February 27, 2009 How about this? Or this? Some of these other straps suggested seem like overkill.

USA road racer Posted March 4, 2009 Share #11 Posted March 4, 2009 I just tried something. Took the strap off of my Ultravid 10X25 binoculars & put it on the DLux4. It is exactly what I'm looking for! It is just black webbing,.I know it's strong enough because the binoculars weigh more than the DLux4. Goes from the 1/4" to 1/2 " behind the neck for additional support. Wraps nicely around the camera for storage or the wrist for use as a wrist strap. Just ordered a replacement from Leica USA for a sum of $15 USD! Rather inexpensive as well.
burkey Posted March 5, 2009 Share #12 Posted March 5, 2009 Has anyone used one of Gordy's wrist straps on the D Lux 4 with the ring mount or just with the string? I'm trying to figure out which will work the best. Thanks in advance. . . . Burkey
Ed_K Posted March 6, 2009 Share #13 Posted March 6, 2009 hi Burkey, i am using that wrist strap with the ring mount plus an o-ring, as i worry that the string might give away over time. One thing noted though, with the o-ring protection it's also difficult to open the door to the ports; i simply access my photos via a card reader and skip the port ... no problem. I got a chance to take the D LUX 4 out today. Both camera and strap performed very well. :-) . . . Burkey Welcome, dear visitor! Thanks for the picture. I've been thinking of getting one of his straps--the same colors as yours. Did you order an additional O-ring, to have one on the strap plus one as camera protector? Or are they both supplied with the strap? Looks like a large and comfortable loop; does the hand slide in easily, or is the leather fairly stiff? Thanks! Ed_K Posted March 15, 2009 Share #17 Posted March 15, 2009 Glad you enjoy the combination, Burkey, thanks for sharing the snapshot. btw i notice you got the original viewfinder as well, how do you like it so far?
burkey Posted March 15, 2009 Share #18 Posted March 15, 2009 Howard - I like the strap a lot. I took a couple of pictures outside today, (posted on the photo forum under architecture), and found that the strap really gave me a secure sense about the camera staying on my wrist and was very comfortable. The "O" ring on the lug was extra. The one on the strap apparently comes with it. Gordy is great to work with and the turn-around was very quick. Ed - I really like the Leica 24mm finder. I used it on the shots I mentioned above and found it very accurate. I'm excited about the existence of the 35mm brightlines in addition to the 24mm lines in the finder. Another tread here on the forum mentioned about setting the camera zoom to numbers in the "zoom scale" that shows up in the LCD. I found by setting it at "6" for my eye position on the finder with glasses the 35mm lines were also pretty accurate for the 35mm FoV. Good images to all. Have a nice "rest of weekend". Thanks for the comments. . . . Burkey

burkey Posted March 15, 2009 Share #20 Posted March 15, 2009 Ed - thanks. I don't think I posted an image of an airport, just a couple of old buildings in northern Vermont. ;-) . . . Burkey
