Richard D Posted February 24, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 24, 2009 Has anyone received the promised leather case for spare battery and SD card from Leica NJ? I sent my registration card in about 6 weeks ago and haven't heard a word. I just got mine a week ago, but I wouldn't worry about whether or not you actually get one. The reason? It only holds spare cards if they're not in plastic cases and even at that the fit is too tight. I would be worried about it actually damaging the cards. And again, it will hold a spare battery only if not in the plastic case. It's also not very attractive, *maybe* made of leather but pretty poor looking. It's free so maybe I shouldn't be complaining, but it's pretty much worthless as far as I'm concerned. If I were Leica, I wouldn't bother; it just cheapens a good image. So there.............. braaak!
Richard D Posted February 24, 2009 Share #4 Posted February 24, 2009 I haven't seen anything, Rebate, case....? I sent my stuff in around Christmas time. I sent in my registration on December 2nd and received my rebate on January 15th. Just got my free card/battery case. If it goes too much longer, I'd give them a call. USA road racer Posted February 24, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 24, 2009 I just received my rebate check yesterday. Sent it in 2 weeks prior to Christmas. Got the little worthless "leather" (it's plastic) case for both cameras I bought (VLux1& DLux4), You have to remove the SD cards from their plastic cases to insert them into the Leica "made in China" case. A nice gift but I wish they would have done better. You might get a DLux 4 battery in the leatherette case but the case isn't as big as the battery from the VLux1!! It MAY be a novelty item in the future but pretty much useless . However, it does have the "Red Dot" on it.

miami91 Posted February 24, 2009 Share #10 Posted February 24, 2009 Red Dot, huh? Not mine. Just the Leica script logo. Funny, I've received both in the past, as I showed in my photograph in another thread. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/75924-yayyy-i-got-my-titanium-d-2.html#post796700 I can only imagine that Leica USA must have stacks of these things, in both the script and red dot versions, and will continue to run this "promotion" until their supply is exhausted. And I agree with all others --- pretty much a worthless novelty (though doesn't cost us anything, so hard to complain). Jeff.
Tenor1 Posted February 24, 2009 Share #11 Posted February 24, 2009 My rebate check arrived today, without the case. I sent the form a week prior to Christmas 2008.
Richard D Posted February 25, 2009 Share #12 Posted February 25, 2009 My rebate check arrived today, without the case. I sent the form a week prior to Christmas 2008. I was told they are sent in bunches, so I wouldn't worry. Besides, the case is pretty useless. Now, the rebate check is another matter.........:-)
fotografr Posted February 25, 2009 Author Share #13 Posted February 25, 2009 I bought the more expensive titanium version, which therefore was not eligible for the rebate. Figure that one out.
