Stirpe on negatives

Hi

I have just run my first film thorugh my Leica IIIf which I purchased after being serviced by Leica.

Every picture shows a narrow vertical stripe approx two thirds in from the left hand side. It is only visible in the highlights. The stripe has a "hard" edge followed by a softer area. The stripe occupies no more than 1% of the image but is present on every frame.

It does not seem to be affected by shutter speed and it is present on pics taken using flash.

Do I have a shutter problem ?

Can you post an image?

A band like this usually indicates a shutter problem but it would be evident on most if not all images. If it only happens with flash photography, I wonder, have you set the flash dial on the lllf correctly? (the dial below the shutter speed dial, I think mine is always set to zero).

Sorry If I was unclear. The stripe IS PRESENT on ALL IMAGES

My father had a similar problem in his IIIc, with two blurred spots on every image. It was due to a reflex on the film cartridge housing.

So, I would try some experiences like exposing the camera body (without the lens) to light. And try it with different curtain positions (just winder partially the shutter before the exposure). If the problem remains, then it should not be from the curtain itself.

I would look for some reflection in the body, a missing screw (that could allow some light in - it was my fathers IIIc case) and so on.
