underground Posted February 23, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a 40 cron--c i have for my CL and the rubber lens hood is stuck on the lens. I turned it so hard the lens itself started to un-screw. Does any one know a trick that might help loosen the darn thing. Thanx in advance for your help. ho_co Posted February 23, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 23, 2009 Possible suggestion-- Use pliers or a wrench, but at one point only. Don't put the wrench around the outside diameter of the hood, but grasp with one jaw inside the hood and the other outside. If you apply pressure from the outside only, you run a risk of deforming the hood. The area you squeeze becomes narrower, forcing the areas outside the wrench grip to become longer. That means the more pressure you apply to grip the hood, the more it deforms and the more it grips the lens. Another way to try the same: Press your palm against the front of the hood to gain pressure to rotate it. That's less destructive than using a wrench. Try this before grabbing a tool. Good luck.
