LULM - Group for London and SE Area Members

A word of caution.......a newish poster here PM'd me because of a comment I made. The gist of it was that we are a group of people who know each other and will tend to shun 'outsiders'. Nothing could be further from the truth of course, and I was thinking of posting a 'new member's' meeting to encourage some of the newer contributors to the forum to join in without feeling that they are gatecrashing some kind of private members club.

That said, I'm in!!

That's my concern.

We have known each other through this forum for many years now, so it can feel like that. It's just what happens with mature internet forums.

But, I do know that the London "group" often have newer members attending meetings and in the NW, we even befriended Rolo, and he supports United :D

It goes without saying, all are welcome!

I take the opportunity to encourage new members whenever possible with occasional results.

James' idea of a "new members" meeting is an excellent idea - but I feel that a more direct means of contacting potential attendees than simply posting a notie in the Meetings Forum is needed.

I"ll look into that - but in the meantime - any thoughts on how to drum up support?

How about that famous Somerset / Devon technique of 'The Press Gang' ?

Basically a bunch of guys show up from Fleet Street and drag people in as they pass by...:)

Yep, but you would need a few Queen's shillings and glass bottomed tankards, not to mention copious quantities of free beer! Times are now very 'ard since the time of good Queen Bess No.1 !! Oh, and the Press Gang was known to operate in Portsmouth Southampton and Poole as well as the West Country, so there's another 'ampshire potential group to compete with the London and Northern mobs!
