pgk Posted February 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just received a 3" f/2 Elcan lens - my initial experiments indicate that it should focus fine on Canon dSLR and I don't see too much problem in sorting out a mount which could be adapted to this and other equipment if I need to. My question is: should I do this or is it too much of an interesting 'collectable' item (its still in its aerial Vinten 'pod') to alter (I MAY be able to remove it and replace it intact though). Any suggestions?

jc_braconi Posted February 12, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 12, 2009 It can depends, if you have paid for a "collectable" or for a "user". Pictures always welcome.
pgk Posted February 12, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted February 12, 2009 I bought it to use - but its a fascinating item all ways around - fixed focus and motor powered aperture.
luigi bertolotti Posted February 12, 2009 Share #4 Posted February 12, 2009 "motor powered aperture " ? Curios... can you post some pic of it ? Do you know which is the format it was originally intended for ?
pgk Posted February 12, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted February 12, 2009 Here are a couple of images - with and without the cover.
luigi bertolotti Posted February 12, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 12, 2009 Hum... seems that even if for aero pics it is not for the rather big square formats used for topography survey... 3" = 76 mm ... what about its age ? I wonder if the Summicron 75 design owes something to this lens...
