marknorton Posted October 22, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2006 Well yes, there will come a point where the waiting is over and the thing is actually on my desk waiting to be used, charged battery, empty memory card, manual read and fully digested (done that) and I actually have to USE it. As for the very first shot, someone was suggesting they were going to marry new with old by putting a really old lens on it. I think I might try and find a few grass-hoppers... Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 22, 2006 Share #3 Posted October 22, 2006 MY garage door may not even get a chance to fully open before i pop a shot of my neighbors house across the streeet , than i usually do a walk around of the house outside and shoot a bunch of shots that i will throw away anyway. Been here many times . LOL
johnastovall Posted October 22, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2006 A cat of course, doesn't every first shot with a new camera have to be off a cat? As with all my digitals, my desk top just to make sure it does something.
scott kirkpatrick Posted October 22, 2006 Share #5 Posted October 22, 2006 How about an intimate living room portrait of bemused spouse saying "but it looks just like the one you haven't used in years"? scott
Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 22, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 22, 2006 I am thinking more the spouse with a Axe in her hand after she says 5 thousand for that little thing. man that sounds more like a troll to me:D :D
dgray Posted October 22, 2006 Share #7 Posted October 22, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) It would be appropriate for the first shot with the new M8 to be a picture of the M3.
jonoslack Posted October 23, 2006 Share #8 Posted October 23, 2006 I am thinking more the spouse with a Axe in her hand after she says 5 thousand for that little thing. Ouch - that sounds horrid - it may be as expensive over this side of the pond, but two thousand eight hundred certainly doesn't SOUND as bad! but then there are the lenses as well . . . . . . . . As for me . . . . I guess I'll bung the battery straight in and take a few shots outside the shop 'til it goes flat! (I always SAY I'll fully charge them first, but these days with lithium batteries I never do). kind regards jono slack jonathan slack - photographs
adan Posted October 23, 2006 Share #9 Posted October 23, 2006 Stnami: "So, M. Cartier-Bresson, as a future Leica owner, have you figured out your first shot?" H C-B: "Certainement. I'm going to go hang out by this water-puddle I know in Paris. I'm just SURE some guy is going to hop over it one of these days." Any picture I can predict today is too boring to take. Guest stnami Posted October 23, 2006 Share #10 Posted October 23, 2006 ahhhh Andy it is more about intent and style than the actual single image
scott kirkpatrick Posted October 23, 2006 Share #11 Posted October 23, 2006 The guy who suggested taking a picture of the M8's older sister is right on target. Except that it could be an M2 (me) or even a IIIg. Keep this thread around for a few months, and let's see. scott
adan Posted October 23, 2006 Share #12 Posted October 23, 2006 Stnami: fair enough. What I SHOULD take is a Gretag ColorChecker, so that I can do my own RAW color calibration in case I don't like Leica's, Adobe's or Phase One's. Or the battery charger - that will be the closest thing around when I power it up for the first time (after a 3-hour wait). Which may mean shots at the office (gahh!!) What is worthy of that file titled L1000001.DNG? What becomes a legend most? Maybe I'll just carry it around for a week or so until I see something really good enough. Think I'll have the will power? People. Doing something. Intently. With gestures and expressions and no regard for the camera. I hope.
Guest stnami Posted November 7, 2006 Share #13 Posted November 7, 2006 ahhh I guess it was a band playing at a greenpeace rally against the right wing organisation the M8, one firmly senses the disquiet
mr_big Posted November 7, 2006 Share #14 Posted November 7, 2006 I am thinking more the spouse with a Axe in her hand after she says 5 thousand for that little thing. I'm not going to touch that one if you know what I mean.
