Guest WPalank Posted February 8, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 8, 2009 David, I prefer #1. It just seems more natural to me. #2, albeit a gorgeous subject, looks a bit posed.
Guest wls.shanghai Posted February 8, 2009 Share #7 Posted February 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) David #1 is my favourite = natural ! #2 is - for me a bit artificial & posed. Regards wls
Neil Macmillan Posted February 8, 2009 Share #8 Posted February 8, 2009 Good work which I think would be better still if skin highlights were toned down ever so slightly. Disclosure: viewing on a MacBook! The profile is very natural.

robert_parker Posted February 8, 2009 Share #10 Posted February 8, 2009 The first one works best for me too however I suspect the second has undiscovered potential - I found myself wondering what would happen if the second picture was cropped maybe somewhere above the eyebrows and just below the chin.... ps. That's one sharp lens - At risk of being frivolous, I have to ask - Is she wearing contact lenses ??
dpattinson Posted February 9, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted February 9, 2009 Thanks for the feedback These were taken across the table at dinner, so the lighting was pretty much out of my control. The profile is more natural, I can't recall what Anita was looking at in the second shot - I think a friend was standing by the table. @Neil: Could I ask if you've profiled your monitor. I bought a Spyder recently and it toned down my display a little, I used to make my images a little too dark previously. @Robert: Yes - it a very nice lens indeed, and Anita is wearing contacts I'll have a play with cropping it, I'm not very good at cropping in post - always feel like I'm losing something.
