echorec Posted February 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Found this week. A few more "modern" parts than the last one ( http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-collectors-historica/70163-leica-i-bought.html ) but still from 1928 and still with the beautiful thin engraving on the Elmar. echorec Posted February 6, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted February 6, 2009 Hi Luigi, the rangefinder on the new one has a "17161" engraving. Do you know what that is? Best,
luigi bertolotti Posted February 6, 2009 Share #4 Posted February 6, 2009 No idea about... me too have that "long" rangefinder, black, but bears no number: I speculate that Leitz sold them also as general "photo accessories" not necessarly related to a Leica Camera... and in this case could be that, for commercial - tracking reasons they would prefer to have them numbered, while if one was ordered together with a Leica it wasn't numbered (I seem to remember that Leica+RF had a product code of its own... so you identified the complex by body s/n...). Just to verify if this theory has some sense... the rotating ring on the RF has engraved the SAME distances as the Elmar focusing scale ?
jc_braconi Posted February 6, 2009 Share #5 Posted February 6, 2009 I have a FOFIN engraved 7662 in feet scale, a FOFER (large wheel) meter scale has no s/n. Thanks for sharing Gunnar.
echorec Posted February 7, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted February 7, 2009 Thanks guys! Your theory sounds good Luigi. The scale is the same on both lenses and both rangefinders.
