Thanks for the comments.......it is in Clatford Bottom, a dry valley north of the A4 just west of Marlborough, Wiltshire, which is infamous for the "Grey Wethers" which are fields of sarsen stones many of which were used to construct Stonehenge and Avebury, amongst other neolithic stone monuments.
